Mercedes introduced the redesigned C-Class earlier this year, so it comes as little surprise the company is now turning their attention to the AMG variants.
That’s certainly the case today as spy photographers have snapped the Mercedes-AMG C63 in sedan and estate guise on the Nürburgring.
Dressed in heavy camouflage, the high-performance variants follow in the footsteps of the standard model but adopt a Panamericana grille and a sportier front bumper with aggressive intakes. Moving further back, we can see aerodynamic side skirts and lightweight wheels that are backed up by a beefy braking system with ventilated discs.

The sporty styling continues out back as the C63s are distinguished by a four-tailpipe exhaust system and a prominent diffuser. The sedan also features a discreet rear spoiler.
While the models are expected to continue to use the C63 moniker, they’ll eschew the current twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 that develops 469 hp (350 kW / 476 PS) and 479 lb-ft (649 Nm) of torque. Instead, they’ll use a turbocharged four-cylinder engine which is backed up by hybrid technology.
Mercedes has revealed a few details about the upcoming model and it’s slated to use an upgraded version of the turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder that resides in the A45 and CLA45. The engine produces up to 415 hp (310 kW / 421 PS) in the S variants and Mercedes has previously hinted “engineers are aiming for the further developed M 139 [engine] to once again surpass the world’s highest liter output of all four-cylinder series engines.”
While the numbers haven’t been finalized, the automaker has hinted the engine will produce more than 443 hp (330 kW / 449 PS) and can be combined with an electric motor that develops up to 201 hp (150 kW / 204 PS). In the range-topping variant, it could deliver an output in excess of 644 hp (480 kW / 653 PS).
