Photos of the 2023 Chevrolet Corvette have leaked on the internet ahead of its full release. The photos appear to show the car, painted red, shooting a commercial in Pittsburgh.

Chevrolet released a surprise photo of the upcoming performance model in silver earlier this week, but it’s certainly nice to see the car in another color. The shots, as seen on Corvetteblogger and originally posted to Corvette Forum by user SK360, also suggest that Chevrolet is planning to release a commercial for the car soon, with a Porsche Cayenne camera vehicle as well as smoke machines also present at the set. I wouldn’t have thought a Z06 would need any help generating smoke, but I’m no cinematographer.

The images are somewhat surprising because GM is normally pretty careful about keeping cars away from potential photographers ahead of their official release, especially when it’s a highly anticipated model like the Corvette Z06.

Although Chevrolet hasn’t released official information about the car yet, it is widely expected to be powered by a 5.5-liter flat-plane crank V8 that could produce somewhere in the neighborhood of 617 hp (460 kW/626 PS) and 480 lb-ft (651 Nm) of torque.

While that’s slightly less than the last-gen C7 Corvette Z06’s 650 hp (659 PS/485 kW) and 650 lb-ft (881 Nm) of torque, the engine design should make it freer revving while the mid-engine layout should make it easier to actually lay the power down, so it will likely still be faster. Naturally, since the regular C8 Corvette Stingray gets to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 2.9 seconds, we would expect the Z06 to hit highway speed even faster.

Those who are anticipating the supercar highly won’t have to wait too much longer before they find out for sure what’s happening underneath, because Chevrolet has said that it will unveil the car on October 26.
