Caterham has unveiled the Seven 170 as its lightest ever production car, and in order to promote it, they will open the highest pop-up car dealership in the world at the British Airways i360 viewing tower in Brighton, UK.

The pop-up dealership will be open only for this Thursday, September 30th, and anyone who is interested in visiting should book a ticket from here. Besides giving you the chance to see the new Seven 170 for the first time up close, Caterham has arranged a very interesting show.

A team of Caterham engineers will attempt to build a ‘Seven 170’ from scratch on the spot, between 10.00 and 16.00. The build usually takes around 100 hours for a single person, so it will be quite a challenge even for experienced engineers to finish the car in only six hours. Naturally, this is the first time a car will be exhibited – let alone being built – inside the pod.

Graham Macdonald, Caterham Cars CEO, said: “This is our lightest ever product so we wanted to launch it in a memorable way. We have built cars in interesting places before but never this high. It will certainly add another layer of complexity and excitement to the build.”

The glass viewing platform of the British Airways i360 sits at 450ft (137m), providing a great view of the south coast and the English Channel. It is taller than the London Eye, Big Ben, and Tower Bridge.

Weighing only a little over 970 lbs (440 kg), the Caterham Seven 170 is the lightest of its kind. It is fitted with a Suzuki-sourced turbocharged 660cc three-cylinder engine, producing 83 hp (61 kW / 83 PS) and 116 Nm (86 lb-ft ) of torque which is good for a 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 6.9 seconds and a top speed of 100 mph (160 km/h).
