Suppliers typically don’t get a lot of attention, but Continental is grabbing headlines with their new AMBIENC3 concept.
Unveiled at the Munich Motor Show, the concept is based on the Volkswagen T2 and equipped with innovative and sustainable materials as well as the latest technologies.
Envisioned for an era of autonomous driving, the model has a futuristic interior that functions as a so-called “third space” – separate from the home and office – which allows people to work or relax inside. It features a minimalist cockpit with a rectangular steering wheel, a digital instrument cluster and a digital rearview mirror, which also provides a 360° view of the vehicle’s surroundings.

They’re joined by a stylish wood dashboard and a white driver’s seat with “staynu” technology. The latter helps to resist stains and dirt, while also being low-cost and environmentally friendly.
Speaking of the cockpit, there are “no permanently visible controls.” Instead, they’re hidden beneath surfaces and illuminate when the vehicle is in use similar to the Nissan Ariya.
Elsewhere, there’s a lounge-like bench with a marble-esque back. The concept has also been equipped with an elegant chair that is surrounded by wood and features a built-in arm rest. Other highlights include a SMEG coffee machine, a speaker-less Ac2ated Sound system as well as natural, renewable, recycled and reclaimed materials.
Continental didn’t go into many specifics, but the concept has a roof-mounted solar panel and “intelligent glass control with adjustable dimming and heating functions.” Users will also find eTravel.Companion, which is an app-based feature that provides “interactive and personalized support during the journey with tips and recommendations relating to the route, refueling or the condition of the vehicle.”
