Dodge has teased a new SUV model that it will soon launch in Mexico.
The SUV teased is bathed in black and white camouflage and looks unlike any other Dodge on the market. There’s a good reason for this as it appears that this ‘new’ SUV is a rebadged version of China’s GAC GS5 which is already on sale in a number of countries throughout Latin America.
It is difficult to say if any exterior modifications have been made to the SUV to transform it into a Dodge but most parts seem identical. The most obvious point of difference seems to be the blacked-out grille which appears slightly smaller than the one on the GAC GS5. Other than the grille, everything else appears to be the same.

As such, the Dodge SUV has a set of sleek headlights, LED daytime running lights, and secondary lights lower down on the bumper. We can also see that it is equipped with the same taillights and light bar as the GS5, and also sports the same roof rails and spoiler.
In all likelihood, the SUV will borrow its powertrain from the GS5. That would mean a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder pumping out 150 hp and 173 lb-ft (234 Nm) of torque. The Chinese model couples this engine with a six-speed automatic transmission and the Dodge will probably follow suit.
This isn’t the only new SUV that Dodge is thought to be developing. According to reports, Dodge will also revive the Hornet name for an Alfa Romeo Tonale-based SUV that could prove to be the automaker’s first plug-in hybrid.
