A parts availability issue has prompted Ford to pause the scheduling of new Maverick hybrid pickup truck orders.
A notice issued to Ford dealerships by the automaker and shared to the Maverick Truck Club forum reveals that orders placed for the Maverick hybrid will not be selected for scheduling “until further notice.”

Interestingly, Ford told Auto News that hybrid and EcoBoost variants of the new Ford Maverick will soon start to hit dealerships and added that both are still available to order from local dealerships. Ford’s factory in Hermosillo, Mexico, is also currently building hybrid and EcoBoost models to fulfill its order bank but it appears as though new hybrid orders placed won’t be produced just quite yet.
“As with any of our vehicles, we continuously adjust production to match demand with parts availability,” a Ford spokeswoman said in a statement.
While a parts shortage is being blamed on the move, Ford has not confirmed if the parts issue is related to the global semiconductor shortage.
The Ford Maverick has been proving popular since its unveiling, so much so that as of late August, the car manufacturer had secured 100,000 reservations for the pickup. However, Ford did not require customers to provide a refundable deposit when reserving the Maverick. It is unclear how many of these reservations have been converted into orders.
This news comes roughly a month after a Ford dealership in Iowa revealed that hybrid Maverick models won’t be stocked on dealership lots and will only be shipped when ordered by a customer.
