Ford has announced plans to construct two huge complexes in Tennessee and Kentucky to produce the next generation of electric F-Series trucks and batteries.
Ford will work with partner SK Innovation at both sites. The first mega campus will be a $5.6 billion facility in Stanton, Tennessee dubbed Blue Oval City and will create approximately 6,000 new jobs and “reimagine how vehicles and batteries are manufactured.”
The automaker says the site will become a vertically integrated ecosystem for it to assemble an expanded lineup of electric F-Series models and will include a new BlueOvalSK battery plant, as well as housing key suppliers and a recycling facility. From the start of production in 2025, Ford’s goal is for the assembly plant to be carbon neutral.
Meanwhile, Ford has also committed to a $5.8 billion site in central Kentucky known as BlueOvalSK Battery Park. It will create 5,000 jobs and feature two battery plants that are intended to supply Ford’s North American assembly plants with locally assembled batteries to power the next generation of electric vehicles from the Ford and Lincoln brands. It too is scheduled to open in 2025 and will be able to produce 86 gigawatt-hours of batteries annually.

“This is a transformative moment where Ford will lead America’s transition to electric vehicles and usher in a new era of clean, carbon-neutral manufacturing,” Ford executive chair Bill Ford said in a statement. “With this investment and a spirit of innovation, we can achieve goals once thought mutually exclusive – protect our planet, build great electric vehicles Americans will love and contribute to our nation’s prosperity.”
“This is our moment – our biggest investment ever – to help build a better future for America,” added Ford president and chief executive Jim Farley. “We are moving now to deliver breakthrough electric vehicles for the many rather than the few. It’s about creating good jobs that support American families, an ultra-efficient, carbon-neutral manufacturing system, and a growing business that delivers value for communities, dealers and shareholders.”
The two plants will come to life thanks to a new joint venture formed by Ford and SK Innovation dubbed BlueOvalSK.
