Foxconn’s First Electric Vehicle Reminds Us Of The Lucid Air

Electronics giant Foxconn is venturing into the automotive space and a handful of photos have emerged showing its very first electric vehicle.

The EV appears to have been snapped in either Thailand or Taiwan and the word “Foxtron” which, according to Autohome, may be the brand name of Foxconn’s automotive division, is written on the front of the new car. While there’s no info whether this is a fully-functioning prototype, its design is still worth talking about.

On first impressions, the Foxtron appears similar in shape to the all-electric Lucid Air. However, it has a slightly more angular design and this is particularly obvious at the front end where there are striking LED headlights and a full-width light bar. The vehicle also lacks a traditional front grille.

A single image showing the car from a front three-quarter angle reveals it has been equipped with two-tone silver and black wheels. We can also see it has cameras in place of traditional wing mirrors. Sheets have been used to cover up the car’s side windows but we can see through the windshield and it shows the car’s digital gauge cluster and infotainment screen.

Look closely at the front fender and you may also notice a badge that looks suspiciously like the logo of Pininfarina.

Details about this vehicle are limited but it will apparently be unveiled on October 18. It is also understood that Foxconn intends on starting mass production of electric vehicles in the United States and Thailand in 2023.
