Few cars unveiled in recent months have triggered as much debate as the new BMW 2-Series, including the flagship (for now) M240i model. Some love it, some hate it. Regardless of what you think, it’s hard to deny that it makes a statement, especially clad in this gorgeous shade of purple.

This M240i is on display at the BMW Welt facility as part of an extension of the Munich Motor Show. It appears identical to the car that the German automaker first showcased back in July and then brought to the Goodwood Festival of Speed for its dynamic debut.

Unlike many other new BMW models, the 2-Series doesn’t feature an absolutely gargantuan grille, instead making do with two moderately sized kidneys. What’s more unconventional are the curiously-shaped headlights and the triangular air intakes of the flagship M240i model. A lower grille that has been blacked-out completes the aggressive looks.

The side profile of the car is also intriguing and really emphasizes the length of the hood. This purple paint also accentuates the bulging front and rear wheel arches that give the new M240i a wide stance on the road. The rear-end has also triggered some debate, especially in regards to the taillights with their intriguing shape and positioning.

One thing we can all agree on is that the new car has all the right ingredients to be an absolute blast to drive. It is powered by a 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo six-cylinder engine with 382 hp and 369 lb-ft (500 Nm) of torque in North American specification. Coupled exclusively to this engine is an eight-speed automatic transmission and a rear-biased all-wheel drive system with an M Sport rear differential.
