The Mercedes-Benz EQS premiered in April 2021 as the ultimate flagship of the EQ range, or the electric equivalent to the S-Class riding on a dedicated platform. After launching in its home market in Germany where it starts from €106,374, the EQS is now available to order in the UK starting from £99,995 with first deliveries expected in late 2021.
The cheapest variant of the fully electric sedan in the UK is the EQS 450+ AMG Line which costs £99,995 ($138,314 / €117,064). The model comes with 20-inch alloy wheels and AMG Line bumpers with high-gloss black and chrome finish which are not standard on the entry-level EQS 450+ in Germany (thus the increased price).

Standard equipment includes a panoramic sunroof, full leather upholstery, heated seats (front and rear), Nappa leather flat-bottomed sports steering wheel, 12.3-inch instrument cluster, and the 12.8-inch touchscreen for the infotainment borrowed from the S-Class. The basic Driving Assistance Package and the MBUX augmented navigation are also standard, together with the 4.5-degree rear-axle steering (10-degree optionally available through an over-the-air update).
If you want the optional MBUX Hyperscreen, you can either pay an extra £7,995 ($11,073) or simply get the AMG Line Premium trim level which costs £7,000 ($9,692) more. This also adds a set of 21-inch AMG multi-spoke alloy wheels, digital light headlamp technology, active ambient lighting, acoustic privacy glass, a 360-degree camera, Driving Assistance Plus, and a fancier sound system from Burmester.
For an additional £7,000 ($9,692), you can upgrade on the AMG Line Premium Plus which adds the MBUX interior assistant with gesture control, head-up display, and remote parking functionality so you can move the car while sitting outside using the key.
Alternatively, if you are not the sporty type, at the same price as the AMG Line Premium you can get the Luxury grade. This has Microcloud Artico upholstery, comfort seats with comfort headrests, heated steering wheel, ship-deck wood trim, 22-inch alloy wheels.
The next £7,000 ($9,692) will take you to the Exclusive Luxury grade adding climate-controlled multi-contour massage seats, air balance package, and Nappa leather upholstery for the interior. Finally, those who want the absolute best in comfort will love the optional Real Luxury Lounge package which costs £3,995 ($5,530) over the Exclusive Luxury, bringing the total price to £117,990 ($163,342).
As you may have guessed, this package is focused on the rear passengers, adding electrically adjustable rear seats with massage functions, comfort rear armrest with a removable Android tablet and wireless smartphone charging capability, climate control dials and additional USB ports for the rear passengers, adaptive interior lighting and the Mercedes interior assistant.
All the aforementioned grades are combined with the EQS 450 single-motor powertrain producing 329 hp (2445 kW / 333 PS) and 309 Nm (419 lb-ft) of torque that is transmitted to the rear axle. The 107.8 kWh lithium-ion battery allows for a range of up to 453 miles (729 km) and can charge from 10 to 80 percent in 31 minutes when using the 200 kW DC onboard charger.
All EQS buyers will get a three-year subscription to Mercedes me Charge, proving access to many public charging networks, and a one-year subscription to IONITY with free rapid chargers.
