Target has launched its child car seat trade-in program for another year, offering discounts to shoppers who trade in their old car seats for new ones.
The program will run through until September 25 and allows customers to drop off old, expired or damaged child seats at stores through the United States. These seats will be recycled and in return, customers will be provided with a 20 per cent off coupon that they can use on a new car seat, stroller, or other select baby gear.

All types of car seats are eligible, including convertible car seats, car seat bases, and harness or booster car seats. The 20 per cent coupon is eligible until October 2, 2021 and can be combined with other item offers.
Target sends any old car seats to Waste Management that recycles them to use for products such as palettes, plastic buckets, and construction materials including steel beams and carpet padding. The retailer first introduced the car seat trade-in program in April 2016 and has recycled more than 1.4 million car seats and the equivalent of 22.2 million pounds of plastic.
Target stocks a plethora of car seats. Prices vary depending on quality and features but some higher-end car seats sell for upwards of $300. Of course, you don’t have to spend that much to keep your child safe, but ensuring a seat is up-to-date and meets the latest standards is extremely important.
