The dashcam of a truck has captured the moment that the driver of an old Toyota Camry slammed head-on into the truck in South Australia.
The accident was filmed last month and initially shows the cammer driving along the road. A large truck can be seen pulled over to the side of the opposite lane. Soon after, the Camry comes into view, after appearing to pull out from a driveway.
To avoid the stopped truck, the Camry driver pulls onto the opposite side of the road. While the dashcam footage has been muted, we can see the cammer slam on their brakes to avoid a collision but, surprisingly, the Camry driver did nothing. In fact, it appears as though the driver of the Toyota actually accelerated before slamming into the front of the truck.

Shortly after the collision, the truck driver rushed out to make sure that the Camry driver was okay.
The trucker says that the Camry wasn’t registered and that the driver didn’t have insurance. He also indicated that the driver stunk of wine, suggesting that alcohol may have played a part in the crash. Authorities soon arrived on the scene and the driver of the Toyota was taken to a nearby hospital.
The damage caused to the Camry is extensive, so much so that it was declared a complete write-off. The video doesn’t show how much damage the truck sustained but the cammer says it will need $10,000 in repairs.
