Wuling is best known for their pint-sized Hong Guang EV, but the company has now launched a new Asta crossover.
Designed to appeal to “China’s new generation of SUV buyers,” the Asta has a “dynamic wing” front fascia with a prominent grille. The latter is flanked by boomerang-shaped LED running lights, which give the model a bit of a Peugeot vibe.
Continuing further back, we can see a prominent shoulder line, a contrasting roof and plastic body cladding. The model also has pronounced rear pillars and slender taillights.
In terms of size, the Asta measures 180.9 inches (4,594 mm) long, 71.7 inches (1,820 mm) wide and 68.5 inches (1,740 mm) tall with a wheelbase that spans 108.3 inches (2,750 mm). This means the model is roughly the same size as the Chevrolet Equinox.

While the exterior isn’t too remarkable, the five-seat interior looks like a nice place to spend some time as it features a stylish two-tone design as well as a free-standing 10.25-inch infotainment system. We can also see a digital instrument cluster, an ambient lighting system and wood trim. They’re joined by metallic accents and a massive panoramic sunroof that measures 39.4 inches (1,002 mm) by 31.5 inches (800 mm).
Power is provided by a turbocharged 1.5-liter engine that produces a modest 145 hp (108 kW / 147 PS) and 184 lb-ft (250 Nm) of torque. It can be paired to either a manual or continuously variable transmission, and one of them enables the Asta to hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in 10.6 seconds.
Five different trims are available and pricing starts at ¥69,800 ($10,794 / £7,860 / €9,202). Even the range-topping variant is affordable as it begins at ¥99,800 ($15,434 / £11,238 / €13,158).
