The XPeng P5 has been officially launched in China five months after it was unveiled at the Shanghai Auto Show back in April.
The electric sedan will be offered in six different variants in the local market, dubbed the 460G, 460E, 550G, 550E, 550P, and 600P. Prices range between 157,900 RMB ($24,549) and 223,900 RMB ($34,811.)
The entry-level P5 460G features a 55.9 kWh lithium-ion battery pack providing a range of 286 miles (460 km) in the NEDC combined cycle. Next is the 550G that features a larger 66.2 kWh ternary-lithium battery with 342 miles (550 km) of range and starting at 177,900 RMB ($27,659). The 550E has the same powertrain and the X-Pilot 3.0 system, bring its price tag up to 192,900 RMB ($29,991). The next variant is the 550P, complete with the same 66.2 kWh battery pack but with an even more advanced semi-autonomous system that adds two LiDAR units, priced from 199,900 RMB ($31,080). Topping out the XPeng P5 range is the 600P with a 71.4 kWh ternary-lithium battery pack that is good for 373 miles (600 km) of range.
XPeng hasn’t released horsepower and torque figures for the respective models but says the sedan hits 100 km/h (62 mph) in 7.5 seconds and has a very low drag coefficient (Cd) of just 0.223.
Found in the cabin of the P5 is an optional projection screen that slides down from in front of the driver’s seats, an eight-speaker surround sound system, a built-in fridge, and fragrance control.
The Chinese automaker plans on offering the P5 in Europe but before it does so, it will conduct European-specific testing. The first customer deliveries in China will start at the end of October.
