We have seen all kinds of vehicles lining on the start line for a drag race. This one is rather unusual, though, in that it pits something that made a name for itself in movies against something that was born out of a video game.
More specifically, Hoonigan brought together the Warthog from the HALO series of video games and a high-power DeLorean that was made famous worldwide by the Back to the Future franchise.
It would be difficult to conceive of two more different vehicles. Although the Warthog has a distinct advantage in terms of power thanks to its 1,060 hp (1,074 PS/790 kW) 410 ci Ford small-block, it’s at a disadvantage when it comes to weight.

The 1981 DeLorean DMC-12‘s 3.3-liter V6 that comes from a Kia Stinger pumps out a respectable, though puny by comparison, 487 hp (494 PS/363 kW). Although it makes less than half as much horsepower as the Warthog, it also weighs less than half as much, tipping the scales 2,725 lbs (1,236 kg) vs the made-up military vehicle’s 6,500 lbs (2,948 kg).
Even when it comes to how the vehicles deliver their power, it’s hard to say which car has the advantage by looking exclusively at the spec sheets. While the DeLorean only powers the rear wheels, the Warthog drives all four. The giant off-road tires it sits on, though, shouldn’t be great for getting off the line.
Indeed, in terms of performance, this ends up being a very close race. We won’t spoil the results for you here, but it’s very surprising how well-matched these cars are considering how different they appear to be.
