Ford has confirmed that Bronco models equipped with the Sasquatch off-road package will be available with a manual transmission for the 2022 model year.

Shortly after the new Bronco was unveiled, some Ford fans were disappointed to learn that the manual transmission could not be paired with the Sasquatch package. An online petition was swiftly launched and after gaining more than 12,000 signatures, Ford confirmed that the package will gain the option of a 7-speed manual gearbox on Base, Big Bend, Black Diamond and Badlands trim levels.

The Blue Oval originally said that manual Bronco Sasquatch models would arrive for the 2021 model year but that didn’t happen. Instead, 2022 Bronco models will be the first offered with the Sasquatch package and manual combination, The Drive notes. Order books for the 2022 Bronco will open in approximately two weeks.

Ford Bronco models equipped with the Sasquatch package feature 35-inch Goodyear mud-terrain tires mounted to 17-inch beadlock-capable wheels, Dana front and rear electronic locking axles with a 4.7:1 final drive ratio, and a high-clearance suspension that includes position-sensitive Bilstein shocks.

Mind you, the manual gearbox is only available for models equipped with the entry-level 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder and not the 2.7-liter EcoBoost twin-turbo V6. When running on premium fuel, the four-cylinder has 300 hp and 325 lb-ft (441 Nm) of torque whereas the 2.7-liter V6 is rated at 330 hp and 415 lb-ft (563 Nm).
