The 185.4-inch (468 cm) long Outlander is sitting on 20-inch alloy wheels and sports the signature Dynamic Shield front end with dual headlights and a chrome-infused grille. The color palette consists of 10 colors including Red Diamond, White Diamond, and Black Diamond, while the roof in the pictured example is painted black.
Inside, the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and the 9-inch infotainment touchscreen benefit from PHEV-specific graphics showing the status of the powertrain. Despite the addition of the batteries, the electrified Outlander still comes standard with three rows of seats.
Mitsubishi has yet to announce the specifications of the plug-in hybrid powertrain which will combine a gasoline engine with two electric motors and a larger battery compared to its predecessor. The new model will also feature an updated version of the Super-All Wheel Control system offering improved handling and safety in all weather conditions, plus seven driving modes including Power for maximum acceleration and Eco for efficiency.
Following its premiere that will take place online on October 28 at 11:30 p.m. EST, the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV will debut in the Japanese market in mid-December and in the U.S. in the second half of 2022.
