Spy photographers recently caught a lightly camouflaged Volkswagen ID.5 GTX undergoing testing on the Nürburgring and now the company has announced plans to introduce the electric crossover coupe on November 3rd.

The company is keeping details under wraps, but released a short teaser video highlighting the ID.5’s “flowing coupe design” as well as it’s “aerodynamic roofline” that exudes “pure elegance.”

While there isn’t much to see, previous spy photos have shown the model will follow in the footsteps of the ID.4 GTX and feature a sporty front fascia with prominent intakes. However, big changes occur further back as the ID.5 GTX features a rakish windscreen that flows into a sloping roof. The model also sports a dynamic beltline, an angular rear window, and a nearly vertical rear end that is topped by a spoiler.

Volkswagen has been coy on specifications, but has previously confirmed the model will have a dual motor all-wheel drive system as well as a “large lithium-ion battery” that allows for a range of up to 309 miles (497 km) on a single charge. That being said, the powertrain should echo the ID.4 GTX which features a 77 kWh battery pack and a combined maximum output of 295 hp (220 kW / 299 PS). This setup enables the model to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 6.2 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 112 mph (180 km/h).

While it won’t be the fastest electric crossover on the market, the ID.5 GTX promises to be fairly dynamic as it should come equipped with an adaptive chassis control system, an electronic XDS+ differential, and a Vehicle Dynamics Manager similar to the one found in the Golf GTI and Golf R.
