Nissan has announced that the new Z will hit Australian shores in mid-2022 and be offered in two variants.
The 2023 Z replaces the 370Z and continues Nissan’s long lineage of rear-wheel drive sports cars. Australian customers will be able to purchase it in standard Z Coupe guise and, for a limited period after the car’s launch, also in Z Proto Spec form.
The Z Proto Spec model will also be offered in the United States and differs from the standard model thanks to the Ikazuchi Yellow body, 19-inch bronze forged alloy wheels, yellow brake calipers, and a Super Black roof. Its interior is also clad in a combination of black with yellow accents and stitching.

Nissan Australia has not yet released local specifications for the new Z, but says the standard model offered to customers will be “well-equipped.” No pricing details have been announced and won’t be until closer to the car’s launch.
Driving the new Nissan Z is a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine that delivers 400 hp and 350 lb-ft (475 Nm) of torque in North American specification and, in all likelihood, Australian models will have the same horsepower and torque figures. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission or a nine-speed automatic with paddle shifters. Enthusiasts who opt for the six-speed will be pleased to know it features a high-performance clutch from Exedy and uses a carbon fiber composite driveshaft.
“The Z name is an icon in Australia and around the world, and has been for more than half a century,” Nissan Australia managing director Adam Paterson said. “When it comes to creating a new Z vehicle, that legacy is both a privilege and a responsibility. I’m thrilled that the new Z doesn’t just further the story, it rewrites it. From power to handling, technology to cabin comfort, this is a vehicle designed to delight, and we can’t wait for its Australian fans to get behind the wheel.”
