Nowadays, a number of manufacturers offer models that are branded as roadgoing race cars. But what if you had the opportunity to buy an actual race version of a road car? That’s what you can do with this Audi RS3 LMS TCR, which is listed for sale on PistonHeads for £109,950 ($151,771) with delivery mileage.
Just by looking at the car you’re able to tell it means business. It appears very similar to the regular RS3, but it features a substantial widebody kit, heavily cambered wheels, and a massive wing out back.

Likewise, the only thing retained from the road car’s interior is the upper dash, as the passenger and rear seats, panels, and upholstery have all been removed to save weight and make room for the massive roll. As a result, dry curb weight is kept at just 2,458 lb (1,115 kg). In place of the normal driver’s seat is an FIA-certified GT3 bucket seat and while it still has rear doors, they’re more of a redundancy since, well, there are no rear seats.

Unlike the roadgoing RS3 though, the LMS TCR has neither a five-cylinder engine nor all-wheel drive. Instead, its turbocharged inline-four sends 340 hp (344 PS / 253 kW) and 420 lb-ft (569 Nm) of torque to the front wheels through a DSG gearbox – which is actually less than the street legal RS3’s 395 hp but hey, that’s race regulations for you. Other part include six-piston brake calipers with slotted discs, a MacPherson strut suspension, and three functioning air jacks.
The RS3 LMS TCR is eligible to compete in the TCR, VLN, International Endurance, and STCC series. Even if you don’t intend to race it, though, would it be worth parting with your hard earned cash to drive a true racing car, and not one that claims to be a tamed version of one, on track days?
