BMW 3 Series Gran Limousine Iconic Edition For India Comes With An Illuminated Grille

The 3 Series might be getting a facelift in 2022, but BMW India has just launched a new special Iconic Edition of the long-wheelbase Gran Limousine variant. The model will be produced locally in limited numbers, offered with diesel and gasoline powertrains exclusively for the Indian market.

BMW’s latest limited-edition model is based on the Indian-spec BMW 3 Series Gran Limousine that was unveiled in 2021, slotting between the regular 3 Series and the larger 5 Series. With a length of 4,829 mm (190 inches) and a wheelbase of 2,961 mm (116.5 inches), it is 110 mm (4.3 inches) longer than the normal 3 Series and offering more space for the rear passengers.

The Iconic Edition is distinguished by the BMW Iconic Glow Kidney Grille combined with standard LED headlights and taillights. It is based on the Luxury Pack with larger 18-inch wheels and chrome elements all around the bodywork. Customers can choose between Mineral White, Carbon Black, and Cashmere Silver combined with Cognac or Black upholstery for the interior.

Inside the cabin, there is an Exclusive Crystal Gear Shift Knob for the automatic gearbox with an illuminated 3 logo similar to the one we saw on the 8 Series flagship. Standard equipment includes the comfort seats for the driver and the front passenger upholstered in Vernasca leather, while the rear seats feature extra headrest cushions and a coat hanger. The equipment list also includes a three-zone automatic climate control with active carbon filters, the Panorama Glass Sunroof, ambient lighting, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen, a Harman Kardon Surround Sound system with 16 speakers, and wireless charging.

Driver assistance systems include both Parking Assistant and Reversing Assistant, with the latter keeping track of the last 50 meters driven and taking over the steering while reversing out of tight parking spots or through narrow driveways.

The model is offered in 330Li guise with the 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol engine producing 258 hp (192 kW / 262 PS) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft), and in 320Ld with the 2.0-liter four-cylinder diesel engine producing 190 hp (142 kW / 193 PS) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft). In both cases, the eight-speed Steptronic Sport automatic gearbox with paddle shifters sends power to the rear wheels. Using Launch Control, drivers can accelerate from 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 6.2 seconds or in 7.6 seconds respectively.

The BMW 3 Series Gran Limousine Iconic Edition will be produced at the BMW Group Plant Chennai. It is currently available to order in India, with prices starting from ₹5,350,000 ($71,379) for the 330Li and from ₹5,490,000 ($73,247) for the 320Ld.

A similar 3 Series Iconic Edition was introduced earlier this year in Australia, in a limited run of 200 units. However, this one was based on the regular-wheelbase 330i and came fitted with the sporty M Package bumpers.
