The forthcoming Canoo Lifestyle Vehicle all-electric van will use batteries supplied by Panasonic.
Underpinning the Lifestyle Vehicle is Canoo’s modular platform and the Panasonic battery cells will be integrated into modules directly in the structure of the platform itself. This should make it easier to perform service repairs and upgrades to the battery modules.

“Our team is very focused on continuous optimization and creating IP in the areas of battery module technology, higher energy density and on a flexible thermal management platform that contributes to enhanced safety and lower cost of ownership,” Canoo chairman and chief executive Tony Aquila said in a statement. “We designed our battery systems to account for future advancements in cell technology and today we are excited to announce the selection of Panasonic, a global technology company and a leader in the cylindrical lithium-ion battery industry, as our partner.”
Canoo will commence production of the Lifestyle Vehicle in the fourth quarter of 2022 thanks to a partnership with contract manufacturer VDL Nedcar in the Netherlands. The initial plan is for VDL Nedcar to build up to 1,000 units for the U.S. and European markets next year before increasing production to as many as 15,000 units in 2023.
Canoo intends on selling its Lifestyle Vehicle from $34,750 and will follow it up with a range of other models. These will include an all-electric delivery van, an electric pickup truck with a design inspired by the Lifestyle Vehicle, and a sporty sedan that was spied just a few months ago.
