One of the first elements discussed by DeMuro relates to the Z07 Performance Package that the Accelerate Yellow example he checked out was equipped with. This package includes a new carbon fiber aero kit with an enlarged front splitter, front dive plans, underbody strakes, and a large rear wing. It also includes unique suspension with specific Magnetic Ride Control 4.0 calibrations, Michelin Sport Cup 2 R ZP tires, and carbon ceramic Brembo brakes. Those who order the Z07 package can also option a set of lightweight carbon fiber wheels.
The jewel of the new Corvette Z06 is its engine. It takes the form of a flat-crank 5.5-liter naturally aspirated V8 that Chevy dubs the LT6 and the automaker says it has been tested on the track with the C8.R race car. This engine features an aluminum block, dual-overhead camshaft design, dual-coil valve springs, titanium intake and exhaust valves, forged aluminum pistons, forged titanium connecting rods, and twin 87 mm throttle bodies. It delivers 670 hp at 8,400 rpm and 460 lb-ft (623 Nm) of torque at 6,300 rpm.
