The first Graber Super Coupe continuation car is complete, two years after it was announced that the Alvis name was being resurrected.

The Graber Super Coupe features an all-aluminum body, staying true to the original design and using authentic new old stock chassis. Each car is considered bespoke, with the continuation developed from original drawings.

The coupes are powered by a 3.0-liter straight-six engine that uses the original block but features fuel injection, a higher compression ratio, and modern digital machining processes for tighter tolerances.

The result is a more powerful engine than the 1960s’ original. With 172 hp (174 PS / 128 kW), it has 42 hp (43 PS / 31 kW) more than the car it’s based upon. It’s also torquier than the old car, with 209 lb-ft (283 Nm). But it’s not exactly a cheetah out of the blocks, with a 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) time of 8.9 seconds — but if you were to judge the Graber Super Coupe on that, alone, you’d be missing the point.

“The all-aluminum bodywork looks stunning up close, the engine runs faultlessly, and the handcrafted interior is both comfortable and stylish,” says Alvis Car Company managing director Alan Stote. “As a complete package, this Graber serves as a reminder that our manufacturing processes, which haven’t changed at Alvis since the early 20th century, still produce a product of the highest quality. And unlike so many continuation cars, we have ensured this can be enjoyed on the road.”

The Grabber Super Coupe is the first of six models to be produced by the Alvis Car Company, covering both pre- and post-war designs. The next cars to be recreated will be the Graber Cabriolet and the Lancefield pre-war 4.3 chassis car. Both are expected in 2022, and after these three other Alvis models will enter production, including the Park Ward Drop Head, Vanden Plas Tourer, and Bertelli Coupe.

The first car, along with four more, is headed to Japan, where the exclusive distributor for the brand has already placed an order. Prices start at £295,000 (~ $400,000) for pre-war Continuation Series cars, with the Graber Super Coupé starting at £323,000 ($437,000).
