The Lamborghini Murcielago was the Italian automaker’s first model introduced in the 21st century and is now considered a true icon of the supercar industry.
From its outlandish proportions and stance on the road to its screaming powertrain, the Murcielago continues to tick every box that defines a supercar. AutoTopNL recently found itself with the keys to one and set about discovering just how it performs in the modern world where turbocharged, hybrid, and all-electric supercars and hypercars are becoming increasingly common.

The Murcielago featured in this test is a first-generation model, meaning it is powered by the car’s original 6.2-liter naturally-aspirated V12 engine. It is also equipped with Lamborghini’s infamous six-speed e-Gear automated manual transmission driving all four wheels.
While driving the supercar, the tester isn’t afraid to push it to its limits and see what kind of performance it is still capable of delivering. At one stage, the speedometer shows the car hit roughly 315 km/h (195 mph) and that was with the car still in fifth gear. With enough room, the speedometer would have continued to climb.
It’s also worth noting that the car’s odometer reveals it has 96,217 km (59,786 miles) on the clock, a very high figure for a car like this. Evidently, the owner loves driving it and is willing to perform all the necessary maintenance required to keep a Lamborghini like this running for decades.
