Greek Chaos ‘Ultracar’ To Debut With Up To 3,000 Hp And An Ultra Price From $6.4M To $14.4M

Last year, Greek startup SP Automotive made some pretty bold claims with its upcoming first model called the Chaos which was supposed to be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show with some insane performance claims.

But as we all know, the show was canceled due to the pandemic, and after a hiatus from making any kind of public announcements, founder Spyros Panopoulos decided it was time for the Chaos to make its official debut which is now scheduled for Monday, November 1, 2021.

Panopoulos told CarScoops that they have just opened the books for what he described as “the first ultracar on the planet” having already secured their first order with the first delivery scheduled for early 2022. He also revealed that the Chaos will be street legal, priced from around €5.5 million ($6.4 million) for the base 2,000 hp variant, up to €12.4 million ($14.4 million) for the full-spec 3,000 hp model.

The company plans to produce around 15 to 20 handmade cars a year, though no more than 100 in total in order to retain exclusivity.

Those numbers sound extremely optimistic given its exotic price that even in entry-level (2,000-HP) form is more than double that of the electric Nevera ($2.9M) and around the same as the Bugatti Divo ($5.4M) of which only 40 will be produced.

SP Automotive told us that following the public reveal in Athens, Greece, next month, its agenda for 2022-2023 includes having BBC’s Top Gear television show presenting and testing the Chaos, and trying to set various new world records.

In particular, the Chaos will attempt to set a new lap record for the fastest production car at the Nurburgring – a title that currently belongs to the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series with a 6:43.616 lap. It will also try to break the top speed record for a production car stealing the title from the SSC Tuatara (282.9 mph / 455.3 km/h) with the help of Red Bull as a sponsor, and finally set a new record for the 1/4 mile (0-402 meters) acceleration that is currently held by the electric Rimac Nevera with 8.58 seconds.

This is a rendering of the Chaos’ two-seater cabin which will feature sophisticated augmented reality technology, lots of naked carbon fiber, and a yoke steering wheel with an integrated screen.

The Chaos hypercar has been teased several times between April and June 2020, revealing most of the exterior and the interior design, together with the almost unbelievable specifications. Speaking of which, the hypercar will be based on a monocoque chassis made of Zylon, with carbon fiber and kevlar used for the bodywork, titanium, and magnesium for the 3D printed mechanical parts.

According to the official website, the Chaos will be powered by a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V10 available in two versions, with 2,000 hp and an 11,000 rpm redline or with 3,000 hp and a 12,000 rpm redline. The mid-mounted engine is said to feature a billet aluminum engine block, titanium or carbon 3D printed pistons and rods, titanium camshaft, titanium or Inconel valves, plus a pair of turbochargers made of carbon fiber, titanium, and ceramic compounds.

Spyros Panopoulos shared with us a set of exclusive images of the Chaos showing the low and wide body with aggressive design elements, F1-inspired nose, full-LED lights, large air intakes, and sharp edges.

Power will be sent to all four wheels through an eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox. For optimum handling, Chaos will have a fully independent double-wishbone suspension. Brakes will consist of ceramic discs measuring 428 mm (16.9 inches) at the front and 416 mm (16.4 inches) at the rear, complete with magnesium 3D printed calipers.

Last year, SP Automotive had teased a hypercar called the Apeiron through a couple of dark renderings. Now, their latest announcement states that together with the Chaos, they will also present an electric city car, a hydrogen-powered supercar, plus “various other works” they have been preparing for a long time. When asked, the company’s founder Spyros Panopoulos told us that we’ll have more details about his ambitious plans on November 1st.
