Honda has given us our first look at the 2022 Civic Si race car thanks to a new video from Team Honda Research.
The video shows the car testing under camouflage and sporting a massive wing that should certainly help keep the back end planted. Shot testing at Thunderhill Raceway, the team says that the car will make its racing debut at the 25 Hours of Thunderhill that will run from December 3-5.
That follows the unveiling of the production car, which a product roadmap leaked in June suggested would make its debut in October. According to later reports, we won’t have to wait long between its unveiling and its market launch, since the Si is expected to hit showrooms just a month later in November.

The model seen testing here is a sedan, which makes sense since Honda Canada’s Twitter profile said wrote in June that the Si would only be available in the sedan body style.
What’s under the hood remains unknown at this point but the previous generation Civic Si was powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that made 205 hp (207 PS/152 kW) and 192 lb-ft (260 Nm) of torque.
Meanwhile the Civic’s range-topping performance variant, the Type R, will make its debut next year. It is anticipated that it will be powered by a 2.0-liter turbo-four that’s expected to churn out more than 310 hp.
