Thanks to the introduction of cars like the Tesla Model S Plaid and Rimac Nevera, we are now living in an era where a vehicle with an internal combustion engine will likely never again hold the crown as the world’s quickest accelerating production car. However, can a hybridized ICE-powered supercar keeping up with the Model S Plaid down a drag strip?

Fortunately, Brooks from the DragTimes channel on YouTube just so happens to own both a Ferrari SF90 Stradale and a Tesla Model S Plaid and recently headed to a dragstrip in Florida to put them through their paces.

In terms of power, the Tesla has a slight edge over the Ferrari thanks to its 1,020 hp compared to the 986 hp of the Ferrari. The Tesla also has the advantage of delivering all of its power instantly and it also doesn’t need to worry about shifting through gears as it builds up speed.

Technically, the Ferrari claims victory in the first two races as the Tesla jumped the light but even in these races, it was the Tesla that set the quicker times. The closest of the five races held was certainly the third.

In this one, the Ferrari got the jump off the line and looked as though it was going to come out on top. However, as the speeds started to build, it was actually the Tesla that started to reel in the SF90. The EV ultimately finished with a quarter-mile time of 9.363 seconds at 147.81 mph (237.88 km/h) compared to the 9.590 second time of the Ferrari at 147.09 mph (236.72 km/h).
