A mysterious Ferrari prototype was recently spied testing on a European motorway and according to new reports, it could be the latest one-off creation from Ferrari Special Projects.

Reports about this new car first surfaced earlier this month. It is alleged that the one-off will have the same carbon fiber monocoque as the LaFerrari, will be mid-engined, and feature the latest 6.5-liter naturally-aspirated V12 from the 812 Competizione. It will also have styling inspired by the iconic 1967 Ferrari 330 P4.

The prototype in question was bathed in thick body cladding in an attempt to hide its identity. However, not even this camouflage can hide some of the car’s unique pieces of design.

One of the first things you’ll notice about the alleged one-off Ferrari is that the wing mirrors are mounted on the pronounced front wheel arches, rather than the A-pillars like on the LaFerrari. In addition, the shape of the cockpit is vastly different and just like the 330 P4, the car sports a very rounded roofline.

The obvious 330 P4 inspiration continues at the rear where there is a huge lip spoiler just like the famed racing car. Enlarged rear fenders are also featured, as is a pronounced diffuser and centrally-exiting tailpipes.

If current reports are to be believed, we won’t have to wait very long to see the new car in the flesh. In fact, it could be unveiled at the Ferrari World Finals to be held at Mugello from November 16-22, 2021.
