The Regera is Koenigsegg’s grand touring model, combining amazing performance from its 1,500 hp hybrid system with luxury and creature comforts allowing it to be daily driveable. Despite its position in the range, the Regera visited Ring Knutstorp last week, setting a new lap record with a time of 1.03.84, stealing the crown from the McLaren Senna (1.04.50)
Ring Knutstorp is a 2.079km-long racing circuit in Kågeröd, Sweden, often described as a “mini Nürburgring”. As Christian von Koenigsegg describes in the video, this is not the ideal place for the Regera since the track doesn’t have long straights which would allow the rather heavy hybrid Megacar to make good use of its power and its unconventional single-speed gearbox.
Even though a Jesko would be more capable in the track, the performance of the Regera proved to be record-breaking in the hands of a professional racing driver. Besides beating the previous record set by the McLaren Senna, the Regera was faster than the track-focused and ultra-lightweight (although significantly less powerful) Caterham R500 and BAC Mono.

The Regera was unveiled in Geneva back in 2015 but it is still an impressive piece of automotive engineering. Koenigsegg will produce a limited number of 80 units, which have all been sold out with an original starting price of close to $2 million.
The twin-turbo 5.0-liter V8 and three electric motors produce a combined 1,500 hp and 1,475 lb-ft (2,000 Nm) of torque, sent to the rear wheels through a direct drive system. Thanks to all that power, the Regera is currently the record-holder for the fastest 0-400-0 km/h (0-250-0 mph), completing it in 31.49 seconds.
