Before its debut at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, Lamborghini took the Countach LP 500 to Pirelli’s Vizzola Ticino racetrack to give it a shakedown in front of the collector who commissioned it.
The car, a reconstruction of the original concept vehicle that previewed the production model, is the result of 25,000 hours of work from Lamborghini’s Polo Storico in-house restoration arm.
Lamborghini took the Countach LP 500 to the track to validate all the hard work done by Polo Storico. The location was also chosen to present the car to its owner and give him the opportunity to experience its performance with a few laps around the circuit.

“The tests and the shakedown on the track confirmed that the Countach LP 500, as well as being beautiful, is also functional,” said Giuliano Cassataro, head of service and Polo Storico. “We felt it was important to celebrate it together with the customer, and also to share the excitement of seeing it in motion with the suppliers who invested so many hours of work in its creation.”
Now, the Countach LP 500 will go back on display at the MUDETEC Museum in Sant’Agata Bolognese through November 15. It will be joined by the bare tubular chassis of an LP 400, the second production LP 400, and a 5000 QV, in order to create a journey through the evolution of the Countach, arguably one of the most important cars in Lamborghini’s history.
