The blackout trend has exploded in popularity over the past few years and it’s even spread to the ultra-luxury segment.
Bentley isn’t a stranger to this as the company staged the North American debut of the Bentayga Black Edition at Monterey Car Week in 2017. Since then, the crossover has been given a facelift and it appears the Black Edition is making a comeback.
Recently spotted undergoing testing, the latest Black Edition features a monotone appearance as it has a black grille and black headlight surrounds. The dark theme continues further back as there’s black fender vents, black window trim and a black exhaust system. We can also see black taillight surrounds and a diffuser sourced from the Bentayga S.

Little else is known about the model at this point, but the previous Bentayga Black Edition was equipped with a number of carbon fiber components including a front splitter, side skirts and a rear spoiler. Other highlights included drilled alloy pedals and diamond-quilted leather seats with embroidered Bentley badges.
While Bentley is keeping details under wraps, it could come equipped with a twin-turbo 6.0-liter W12 engine just like its predecessor. In the Bentayga Speed, it develops 626 hp (467 kW / 635 PS) and 664 lb-ft (900 Nm) of torque. This enables the model to run from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 3.8 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 190 mph (306 km/h).
It’s possible the new Black Edition could also be offered with a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 as the prototype has a number of similarities to the Bentayga S. If that’s the case, this variant would likely have 542 hp (399 kW / 550 PS) and 568 lb-ft (770 Nm) of torque. Given these lower numbers, it shouldn’t be surprising to learn the dash to 60 mph (96 km/h) would require 4.4 seconds while the top speed would be a slightly less impressive 180 mph (290 km/h).
