A British Range Rover specialist by the name of Kingsley Cars has just unveiled a heavily modified and updated Range Rover Classic that is compliant with London’s expanded Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ).
Fittingly dubbed the ULEZ Reborn Range Rover Classic by Kingsley Cars, the SUV is initially stripped back to its bare shell where it is then re-engineered and future-proofed to ensure the shell will not rust. If needed, Kingsley Cars will repair the shell and protect it with a seam sealer, rubberized coating, and high-quality paint.
Under the hood, Kingsley Cars fits the Range Rover Classic with either a re-engineered 4.0-liter naturally aspirated V8 producing 220 hp or a 4.6-liter naturally aspirated V8 rated at 270 hp. Both engines are mated to a ZF 4HP22 automatic transmission and a fully rebuilt Borg Warner transfer box. The vehicle can return up to 25 mpg.

Kingsley Cars also offers customers the opportunity to equip their Reborn Range Rover Classic with uprated anti-roll bars, a big brake kit with six-piston front and four-piston rear calipers, and forged aluminum wheels that reduce unsprung mass and add some extra style.
Various other options are available. For example, the ULEZ-compliant model can be fitted with front and rear parking sensors, a reversing camera, switchable and variable assistance electric power steering, LED headlamps with washers, a JL Audio 700-watt seven speaker system with DAB, and rear iPad entertainment integration for passengers. Apple CarPlay is also an option, as is ambient lighting and wireless smartphone charging.
Complementing the updated powertrains are a host of important interior upgrades that come as standard, including heated seats that can be clad in tweed fabrics and custom leathers. The Range Rover Classic also comes with adjustable electric mirrors, sound deadening, and can be equipped with color-matched seatbelts.
“Having been around classic Range Rovers for most of my life and after building a business around these vehicles, it was crucial for the company to come up with a way to not only continue to restore classic Range Rovers and Land Rovers but to enhance them for modern use,” founder of Kingsley Cars, Damon Oorloff, said. “And so, our classic Range Rover Reborn series was created. Designed for fans and enthusiasts of the classic model, it ensures that when driving in London, road users will not be hit by the ULEZ charge following its expansion to both the North and South Circular roads.”
British pricing for the vehicle start from £125,000 ($172,000) including taxes and the build process takes between six and eight months.
