The next-generation Range Rover is expected to debut before the end of the year but that didn’t stop Land Rover from announcing a new special edition of the outgoing model, exclusively for the Japanese market: this is the new Range Rover SV Golden Edition, and is limited to just 5 units.

The “Golden Edition” was created by the Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) department, based on the Autobiography trim. As you can guess by the name, it is packed with features combining high-performance, luxury, and unique design touches. Weirdly, it is based on the regular Range Rover rather than the more opulent long-wheelbase variant.

Starting from the exterior, you can’t help but notice the unique combination of the SV Bespoke blue color with gold-painted accents on the front intakes, grille, side vents, side sills, rear bumper, and tailgate. The rest is typical of the Range Rover with huge 22-inch wheels, LED lighting, a panoramic sunroof, and black-painted pillars.

The color black dominates the interior with ebony perforated semi-aniline leather seats, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10-inch infotainment touchscreen, plus another touchscreen for the climate controls. It also has a cooler box on the center console to store your food/drinks.

Equipment includes a head-up display, air ionization technology, activity key, plus the Driver Assist Pack which brings features like the adaptive cruise control with steering assist, the 360-degree parking aid, and the clear exit monitor.

Under the bonnet lies the company’s 5.0-liter supercharged V8, producing 557 hp (416 kW / 565 PS) and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque.

Land Rover has started accepting orders for the Range Rover SV Golden Edition on October 15, with Car Watch Impress reporting that there are already ten customers that have expressed their interest. Only five units will be produced at a price of ¥23,218,000 ($203,182).

The current generation of the Range Rοver was launched back in 2012 and received a facelift in 2017. The new model expected to debut before the end of the year will be a clean-sheet design based on the MLA architecture with evolutionary styling and a variety of electrified powertrain options.
