A low-mileage 2005 Porsche Carrera GT is currently up for auction in Chicago, Illinois and could sell for almost $1.4 million.

The Carrera GT is one of the greatest supercars ever produced and appears to finally be getting the recognition it deserves among enthusiasts and collectors. Prices of pristine used examples have jumped considerably over the last year and whereas the car used to trade hands for between $700,000 and $800,000, prices are now routinely topping the $1.2 million mark.

This particular example that has been listed up for sale on PCarMarket has only ever been driven 342 miles (550 km) and has had just one owner since new. The listing confirms it was originally delivered through a dealer in Texas and recently underwent an engine-out service that cost almost $50,000.

The exterior of the car is finished in GT Silver Metallic that has been wrapped in a paint protection film across the front end and wing mirrors. It continues to sit on the original 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels and wears Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires.

Found in the cabin is a combination of Dark Grey leather with silver accents across the dashboard, various carbon fiber components, and a beechwood shift knob that pays homage to the 917 Le Mans race car. It is also being sold with a matching leather luggage set.

Powering the Carrera GT is a high-revving 5.7-liter naturally aspirated V10 with forged titanium connecting rods, forged pistons, dry-sump lubrication, and dual overhead camshafts with variable intake timing. This engine is coupled to a six-speed manual transmission with a twin-plate Porsche Ceramic Composite Clutch.

At the time of writing, and with 13 hours left in the auction, the highest bid stood at $1,355,000.
