A prototype for the upcoming BMW M4 CSL has been filmed doing the rounds at the Nurburgring, looking much more aggressive than the already potent M4 Competition.
A number of M4 and M3 CSL prototypes have been spied testing in recent months and like most others, the example featured in this video is bathed in camouflage across its front and rear fascias. Nevertheless, we can still spot some obvious aerodynamic upgrades, while also having the opportunity to hear its engine in action.

Differentiating the prototype from a regular M4 is a new front splitter that will help to increase downforce over the front wheels. The car also features revised air intakes and while it still has a large kidney grille, the inner design of the grille has been changed for a more menacing look. We can also see that the car has new lightweight wheels and bronze brake calipers.
BMW has continued the modifications at the rear end with an enlarged lip spoiler and a new diffuser.
Details regarding the car’s powertrain haven’t been confirmed but the automaker’s engineers will no doubt tweak the 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged six-cylinder to ensure it offers up more grunt than the 503 hp and 479 lb-ft (650 Nm) of the Competition. A horsepower figure around the 540-550 hp mark is likely. The upgraded engine will probably be mated exclusively to an eight-speed automatic transmission, meaning the available six-speed manual will remain exclusive to non-Competition versions of the M3 and M4.
