Alpine is working behind the scenes on a bold plan to introduce a three-model range and go fully electric, but it hasn’t forgotten to give a little love to the A110 sports car that kicked off its rebirth in 2017.
The two-seater is still available in three different flavours, but Alpine has fiddled with the badges. The A110 Pure now simply goes by A110 and carries a £49,905 ($66,668) price, while the luxury-themed Légende is rebdranded as the GT and will set you back £59,355 ($79,292). Unchanged, at least in terms of name, is the £59,955 ($80,094) A110S at the top of the range.
The base car carries over its 1.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, sending 249 hp (252 PS) and 236 lb-ft (320 Nm) of torque to the rear wheels through a seven-speed paddle-shift transmission for zero to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 4.5 seconds. But the GT and 110S up those numbers to 296 hp (300 PS) and 251 lb-ft (340 Nm). The 62 mph time drops to 4.2 seconds, and while the GT is limited to the same 155 mph (150 km/h) as the base car, the S is allowed to reach 162 mph (260 km/h).
Alpine always pitched the S as the driver’s choice, and the distinction should be even greater with the addition of an optional aero kit. Comprising a carbon rear spoiler, a carbon front blade and other lower body devices designed to improve the efficiency of the rear diffuser, the new parts provide 60 kg (132 lb) of downforce at the front, and 81 kg (179 lb) at the rear at top speed which, with the aero kit, is unlocked to 171 mph (275 km/h).

S also benefits from chassis revisions that include 50 percent stiffer springs, recalibrated dampers, and anti roll bars that are twice as stiff as before. Other optional equipment designed to capitalize on those changes to the S includes track-focused Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 Connect tires.
Alpine hasn’t devoted all its brain power to making the car go round a track faster. It says it’s improved everyday refinement too, most obviously with the addition of a new 7-inch touchscreen that finally features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Though it’s sadly still off limits for North American buyers, European Alpine customers can order the 2022 A110 now, with deliveries set to commence next spring.
