The BMW E39 M5 is one of the most beloved generations of the M5 and thanks to a fresh detail, this particular example looks like it just rolled out of the factory.
The most intriguing detailing technique used in the video is known as dry ice blasting and is used to restore the underside of the car. Dry ice blasting works by sending a stream of tin dry ice pellets through a high-pressure hose. These pellets turn into gas when they hit a surface and work incredibly well in removing dirt.
I AM Detailing used the dry ice blaster to clean many of the M5’s mechanical components, including the suspension arms, exhaust, and gearbox. The results are profound and you’d have a very hard time believing that this BMW left the factory more than 20 years ago.

With the underside as clean as it could get, the detailing team got to work on buffing out the scratches found across the exterior of the car. This is no easy task and requires a lot of patience but the results can be profound with not only the scratches removed but also the dreaded orange peel. Once the black paint was free of scratches, the car was polished and then ceramic coated to ensure it looks fresh for years to come.
A lot of time was also spent on the car’s interior which was thoroughly cleaned and had some new pieces of trim installed.
