In a further bid to appeal to fans of ’90s classics, Acura has chosen RADwood SoCal as the location for the public debut of the Integra Prototype. There, the thinly disguised production car will be displayed alongside several classic Integras.

First unveiled in an online event on November 11, the Integra Prototype serves as an indication of what Acura is planning for the upcoming Integra when the production version of the vehicle is ready to hit dealer showrooms in 2022.

The prototype will be displayed along with 10 vintage Integra models. They are:

  • 1986 Integra 3-Door on loan from the Honda Collection Hall;
  • 1989 Integra 5-Door on loan from Acura enthusiast Tyson Hugie;
  • 1987 Integra #48 Race Car Replica on loan from the Honda Collection Hall that is a tribute to Acura’s first race car, which won seven of 10 races in the 1987 IMSA International Sedan Championship; a 1992 Integra Sedan;
  • 1992 Integra Coupe RealTime Racing Rally Car REplica that was built by America Honda Special Projects and went on to win several events in the SCCA PRO Rally Series;
  • Two 1992 Integra Coupes;
  • 1996 Integra GS-R from The Fast and The Furious known as “Monica” and driven by the character “Edwin” who was played by Ja Rule;
  • 1997 Integra Type R RealTime Race Car that dominated the SPEED Touring Car Championship between 1997 and 2002;
  • And finally a 2001 Integra Type R in Phoenix Yellow that has just 5,000 miles (8,047 km) on the odometer.

RADwood SoCal will be take place on November 20 and has been going on since 2017. The show celebrates vehicles and car culture from the ’80s and ’90s and places an importance on the eclectic and unexpected.

Acura promises that when the production version of the Integra arrives, it will be powered by a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine (not unlike the Civic Si) and will have a base price of around $30,000. It will be built at the company’s Marysville Auto Plant, in Ohio.

“The Integra is one of the most iconic models in Acura’s history,” vice president and Acura brand officer Jon Ikeda said in a statement. “This new Integra will continue to deliver on the original’s unique aspirational yet attainable market position, with emotional performance and style, combined with the versatility and utility sought after by today’s buyers.”
