Aston Martin today announced that it has completed the first production version of its mid-engined hypercar, the Valkyrie. The first customer will soon receive their car.

“It is an immensely proud moment for us to complete our first-ever hypercar,” Tobias Moers, CEO of Aston Martin. “The Aston Martin Valkyrie program has tested everyone who has worked on it to the limit but the commitment to the dream has produced a truly incredible car, an F1 car for the road.”

The first of just 150 examples set to be produced, each Valkyrie takes more than 2,000 hours of labor to complete. All work is completed in a specially commissioned Valkyrie production area at Aston Martin’s Gaydon, U.K. headquarters by a dedicated team that manages the build right through to delivery.

“The Valkyrie is born out of the steadfast dedication of a large group of highly skilled engineers and technicians who have worked tirelessly to get Valkyrie to the production stage,” said Moers. “I’m sure our customers will be delighted with what they have achieved.”

Before each car is delivered, it must first be tested on track at the automaker’s high-performance facility at Silverston, where much of the development took place. The test is likely to be the last time many of these cars are driven hard on their way to a cushy life in a humidity-controlled garage.

The Valkyrie makes use of a hybrid V12 powertrain that develops 1,139 hp (1,155 PS/850 kW) and uses technology derived from Formula 1. The extreme hypercar is a result of a collaboration between Aston Martin and Red Bull Racing’s chief technical officer, Adrian Newey, with plans for the Valkyrie first announced in 2016.
