Facelifted 2023 BMW 3-Series Touring Spied For The First Time While Suffering Technical Issues

Our spy photographers have snapped the first shots of the updated 2023 BMW 3-Series Touring. Parked with technical issues, they were able to get plenty of shots of the wagon.

Although we’ve seen the updated 3-Series testing before, this is our first glimpse of the wagon variant that we expect to also get mild improvements for the 2023 model year. Like the sedan, the 3-Series Touring seen here only has camouflage on the front and rear fascia..

A new DRL design suggests that the automaker’s designers want to put more emphasis on the two lighting elements contained in the headlight unit, much like the recently updated X3 and X4 duo. Featuring two upsidedown checkmark-shaped DRL stripes per side, the new lights may have previously been leaked on Instagram.

BMW may also choose to update the rear of the car, though as with the sedan any changes so far appear to be very subtle.

Previous shots of the interior showed a new dash layout. The update is expected to follow the example set by the i4 with curved displays angled towards the driver. It will also feature the latest iDrive infotainment technology.

First unveiled in 2018, the G20/G21 3 Series, is right on schedule with this update, if the lifecycle of the last-generation car is anything to go on. The automaker has been testing other versions of the car with hybrid drivetrains and M badging as well as Alpina’s own take on it, the B3.

All of the spy shots point to BMW retaining the moderately-sized grille for the updated 3-Series, rather than the oversized grille that has been the subject of some controversy.

We expect the new model to be unveiled next year as a 2023 model year vehicle.
