Ferrari continues to test its long-awaited Purosangue SUV and a heavily-disguised prototype was recently spied in Maranello.
The Italian car manufacturer first announced its plans for an SUV dubbed the Purosangue in late 2018 and has been working on the vehicle ever since. This particular prototype is like most other we have seen in recent months as it is wearing the bodywork of a Maserati Levante.
Ferrari will form its own unique recipe with the Purosangue rather than following in the footsteps of the Lamborghini Urus. Most notably, the vehicle will have a much lower roofline than its rivals and by somewhat of a mix between a traditional crossover and a vehicle like the GTC4lusso. The carmaker likes to refer to it as a Ferrari Utility Vehicles (FUV).

Underpinning the vehicle will be the same front mid-engine architecture as the Roma. This aluminum platform has been expanded to provide space for four passengers and like the Roma, it will have a front mid-mounted engine while the transmission and differential will be located at the rear.
The first variant to hit the market could do so with a naturally-aspirated V12 engine and serve as one of the brand’s final models to rock a V12 without some form of hybridization. Such an engine could deliver around 800 hp and would give the Purosangue bragging rights over its rivals. A number of different powertrains are on the cards, including an electrified twin-turbocharged V8 and perhaps the same basic hybrid V6 as the 296 GTB.
