The R35-generation Nissan GT-R has reached the end of the road in Australia with the final iteration touching down on local shores.
Nissan is sending off the GT-R in Australia with a final shipment of approximately 50 units, consisting of both T-Spec and Nismo SV variants. This particular T-Spec model finished in black is also the last Nissan vehicle in Australia that will be fitted with a compliance plate or label, certifying that it meets Australian Design Rules. New motor vehicle standards implemented in the country will see this certification move entirely online.

“It’s often said that it’s best to save your best until last, and that’s certainly the case here,” Nissan Australia managing director Adam Paterson said in a statement. “The GT-R is Nissan’s most celebrated vehicle, and while this isn’t goodbye forever, the T-Spec and NISMO SV models do act as the closing of this chapter of the GT-R story in Australia. The fact that the last version of this generation of Nissan’s performance icon will also be the last to wear a label that’s been part of the fabric of Australian automotive history for more than 30 years is entirely fitting.”
Nissan announced in September that it was killing off the GT-R in Australia because it doesn’t meet new side-impact crash test regulations.
Those who wanted to buy a 2022 model year GT-R were offered the car in Premium guise (AU$193,900 / US$140,987), Premium Luxury (AU$199,800 / US$144,422), T-Spec (AU$256,700 / US$186,700), Nismo (AU$378,000 / US$274,932), and Nismo SV (AU$393,800 / US$286,424) variants.
