Ford used the Woodward Dream Cruise to announce plans for an electric crate motor and now the company has introduced it in the F-100 Eluminator concept.

Billed as a demonstration truck, the concept is based on a 1978 F-100 and has been outfitted with a dual motor powertrain sourced from the Mustang Mach-E GT Performance Edition. This setup gives the pickup all-wheel drive as well as a combined output of 480 hp (358 kW / 487 PS) and 634 lb-ft (860 Nm) of torque.

Besides the electric powertrain, the concept features an Avalanche Gray exterior with Cerakote Copper accents. They’re joined by a front fender charging port and 19-inch billet aluminum wheels wrapped in Michelin Latitude Sport tires.

The Mach-E touches extend into the cabin as the interior is heavily influenced by the electric crossover. As you can see, it sports a familiar steering wheel as well as a digital instrument cluster and an infotainment system with a portrait orientation. They’re joined by a Mach-E center console, which separates two-tone leather seats.

Getting back to the Eluminator crate motor, each one costs $3,900 and produces 281 hp (210 kW / 285 PS) and 317 lb-ft (430 Nm) of torque. The motor is currently available to order and is targeted at buyers “looking for a transverse-oriented powertrain to electrify a range of vehicles from modern to vintage cars, trucks and SUVs.”

In the future, Ford Performance plans to offer a wider assortment of Eluminator components including battery systems, controllers and traction inverters to “close the loop on full turnkey aftermarket electrification solutions.” There’s no word on when these components will arrive but, when they do, it should make the process of building an electromod much easier.
