A number of striking Porsche art cars have been created over the years and the German automaker has just collated some of the most intriguing.

The first creation was only unveiled at Paris Fashion Week a couple of months ago and celebrates the 30th anniversary of the 968. It is dubbed the 986 L’ART by L’Art de L’Automobile and is finished in Green Pearl. Its roof was also removed and a set of Recaro seats were added. It also features a custom Bose audio system and TAG Heuer created a matching chronograph to accompany the one-off.

Another recent art car unveiled by Porsche is the 996 Swan by digital artist Chris Labrooy. It celebrates 20 years of Porsche in China and made its first public appearance in Shanghai at the start of November.

No less than five Taycan art cars are also featured in this gallery. These include the art car unveiled by Richard Phillips in March that takes his famous Queen of the Night painting and drapes it across the exterior of a Taycan 4S. Earlier this month, Rei Misiri and Megan Claire Keho created two special Taycan art cars as part of the Art Battle Canada 2021 event.

Taking a trip down memory lane brings us to the famed Porsche 356 SC formerly owned by Janis Joplin. The car got its psychedelic-inspired paint scheme back in the 1990s, as after Joplin’s death it was resprayed in its original dolphin gray finish, and later went on to sell for $1.76 million. That was the most of any 356 at a public auction and much higher than RM Sotheby’s original $400,000 to $600,000 estimate.
