This article includes an independent illustration for a future FJ Cruiser made by Rain Prisk who is neither related to nor endorsed by Toyota.

The Toyota FJ Cruiser was unveiled to the world in January 2005, taking inspiration from the legendary FJ40 and bringing it into the 21st century. It is a very capable off-roader and in a handful of right-hand drive markets, is still being sold. However, it failed to capture the imagination of the public quite as the new Ford Bronco has done.

Like the FJ Cruiser, the new Bronco was introduced as a modern-day interpretation of an older model from the Ford family. Its extraordinary popularity gave designer Rain Prisk the impetus to take the FJ Cruiser and go back to the drawing board, updating it with a fresh new look while still paying tribute to the original FJ40.

QOTD: After The Bronco, What Classic SUV Should Be Revived Next?

Like the outgoing model, Prisk’s creation has round headlights with LED daytime running lights that stretch towards the center of the grille. Elsewhere, the off-roader has been depicted with a skid plate and red tow hooks. It also sports a revised hood with a large air intake to feed the engine with cool air.

The roofline of the FJ Cruiser has also been customized and is more similar to that of the Bronco with a black finish and a more flat appearance. The thick C-pillars of the outgoing FJ Cruiser are also there, although they have been simplified and look all the better for it.

Other alterations made to the off-roader include the implementation of new off-road wheels with mud-terrain tires, and a jacked-up ride height.
