Just a few months after the VW Beetle-inspired Ora Ballet Cat was unveiled in China, a rebadged version of the same vehicle has been introduced by Great Wall’s WEY brand at the Guangzhou Auto Show.

The overall shape and proportions of the WEY Yuanmeng are very similar to the Ora Ballet Cat, but the rebadged model really stands out thanks to the presence of a retro-inspired huge front grille clad in chrome that makes it look like a classic Americana vehicle out of the 1930s.

Complementing the grille are chrome accents around the circular headlights and the bumper as well as chromed wire wheels. Found at the rear are more chrome accents and a large hump that serves as a storage compartment for luggage.

Whereas the exterior of the vehicle is very old-school, the interior is much more modern. For example, it features a fully-digital instrument cluster, a large infotainment screen, and a third screen positioned in front of the passenger. There’s also a three-spoke steering wheel with what looks like haptic buttons and the dash sports five round air vents and leather upholstery, giving the interior a luxurious feeling.

Other details about the vehicle remain unclear, including what sort of powertrain it uses, although local media notes that it likely has some form of hybrid system. More details about the vehicle can be expected as it edges towards the production line.
