Few countries make big, luxurious, powerful SUVs quite as well as the United States and eager to see which is the king of the drag strip, CarWow recently gathered together three particularly audacious SUVs.
The first vehicle featured and the one driven by presenter Mat Watson is a Lincoln Navigator. It is powered by the same basic 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V6 as the Ford F-150 Raptor and pumps out 450 hp and 508 lb-ft (690 Nm) of torque.
Competing alongside the Navigator for honors was the Cadillac Escalade and a GMC Yukon Denali. Both feature the same 6.2-liter naturally-aspirated V8 with 420 hp and 457 lb-ft (620 Nm) of torque.

In a straight line, neither of the SUVs are what you could consider to be quick but given their size, they can get off the mark quite well. In the first race, it is the Navigator that proves to have the edge, finishing slightly ahead of the Escalade and the Yukon. The second race is much closer as Watson was a little complacent while driving the Lincoln while the drivers of the Escalade and Yukon switched their SUVs into their rear-wheel drive modes which seemed to help them.
The Lincoln ultimately needed 15.7 seconds to finish the quarter-mile in the last of the three races, slightly ahead of the Cadillac at 15.9 seconds and the GMC at 16.1 seconds.
A rolling race is then held and while the Lincoln has the most horsepower and torque, the lighter GMC proves to offer the best rolling performance. However, both it and the Cadillac hit speed limiters whereas the Lincoln doesn’t seem to have a speed limiter.
