Acura announced today that the Integra is nigh. The automaker announced today that it will unveil a thinly veiled prototype version of the fastback model that marks the return of the nameplate to its lineup on Thursday, November 11 in Los Angeles. We also learned today
The automaker plans to show the new model off to the world as part of a global media event, which it will livestream on its website. The unveiling is planned to occur at 8:35 EST/5:35 PST.
Going by previous Honda and Acura “prototype” models, including the Acura MDX and Honda Civic Prototypes, then it’s almost certain that the Integra will be 99% production ready.
First announced in August via an LED light show at Monterey Car Week, although the Integra is still shrouded in mystery, we do have a few interesting morsels of information. First and foremost, the car will be offered with a six-speed manual transmission.

What that gearbox will be hooked up to remains unknown, but it’s eventually expected to get something fun, as Acura has gone to the trouble of filing for a trademark on the term “Integra Type S.”
We also know that the Integra will get four regular doors, as well as a fifth door in the form of a hatch. The body is expected to be somewhat coupe-like, though, thanks to the “liftback” body style the brand has promised.

Ultimately, spy photos have revealed that Integra will look a bit like a Civic, albeit one made to look mildly more sculpted. That makes sense since the car is widely believed to be based on the same platform as the 11th-gen Civic.
Whether Acura can pull off the look of the Integra with the same success as the new TLX remains to be seen, but it is building up anticipation in the enthusiast world. We won’t have to wait much longer now before we find out if the car is everything we hope it will be or not.
Note: We’ve clarified that Acura is calling the Integra a ‘Prototype’, which is the brand’s way of saying it’s a very thinly disguised production model
