There are more than 350,000 Amish living in the United States, predominantly in states such as Indiana, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. They enjoy a very simple way of life but that doesn’t mean they don’t sometimes feel the need for speed, just like the rest of us.
It’s common knowledge that many Amish communities throughout the United States still rely on horses and buggies for transportation, rather than automobiles. While these buggies are typically pulled by just a single horse, dramatic dashcam footage shows that some Amish like to have some fun with these carriages.

This clip was shared to Reddit and shows an individual driving at night, somewhere in the rural U.S. A few seconds in, a horse-drawn carriage comes into view from the left-side of the road. As the horse and buggy make the left-hand turn, the rear wheels of the buggy start to slide and the coachmanmanages to perform a drift that even Vin Diesel would be proud of.
The drift sends sparks flying off the narrow wheels and the buggy is only knocked back into line when it hits a tuft of grass on the side of the road.
A user at the Reddit thread where the dashcam footage was posted says that driving like this isn’t uncommon among the Amish. In fact, he says that they often drag race their buggies down the road.
